This Concert for Peace hopes to start and deepen conversations within South Asian communities of the SF Bay Area on the subject of peace and justice in South Asia. The event is being organized by a coalition of bay area organizations dedicated to the promotion of South Asian unity.
Antariksh, a Desi pop-rock band, has been performing at sold-out concerts in and around the San Francisco Bay Area since 2001. Front man Rajesh is the face of the band. Satyajit on guitars is ably assisted by Pronob on keyboards, while Amber (drums) and Mahesh (bass) hold a tight line as the rhythm section. Their repertoire spans film classics from the 70's to contemporary hits peppered with non-filmi songs from other Indian and Pakistani bands. More at http://www.antariksh.com
The evening will also feature a short video from the recently concluded India-Pakistan peoples' peace march (New Delhi to Multan), which featured Indians and Pakistanis from all walks of life marching together with the goals of establishing people-to-people contact, negating the tendencies of distrust, hatred and enmity, and spreading the message of peace and harmony.
