The Talk
- Addresses the myths surrounding the Kashmir conflict in
India and Pakistan
- Discusses the way forward and possible solutions for
lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Speaker
Mr. Ved Bhasin is the founder and Editor of Kashmir Times;
President Jammu & Kashmir Association of Journalists;
President Jammu Editors Conference, and President Press Club of
Jammu.
Mr. Bhasin is also Chairman, Cultural Forum Jammu and General
Secretary, Hindi Sahitya Mandal. In addition, Mr. Bhasin serves
as the President of Jammu Peace Committee. He is associated with
human rights groups, the Pakistan-India Forum for Peace and
Democracy, South Asians for Human Rights, and South Asian Forum
for Human Rights.
He has attended national and international seminars, conferences
and workshops concerning media, politics, human rights, peace,
literature and social work. He participated in the 'Dialogue on
Kashmir' in Washington sponsored by US Institute of Peace
January 1994. He has delivered series of lectures on the Kashmir
dispute all over the world.
Mr. Bhasin has received several awards for journalism, social
work, human rights, and cultural and environment work. Recently,
he was appointed as a member to the prestigious "Jammu
& Kashmir Rehabilitation Committee" which is headed by
the Chief Minister of Kashmir.
Before coming to the Bay area, he was in Washington to attend
the International Kashmir Peace Conference as a guest speaker.
